No recycling centre at Lisnagelvin Playing Fields

Lisnagelvin playing fields is not being considered as a potential site for a Waterside Recycling Centre.

Members of Derry City and Strabane District Council's Environment and Regeneration committee discussed the matter on Wednesday (December 7).

Chair of the committee Alderman Keith Kerrigan confirmed that the waterside playing fields are not being considered a potential development site.

Alderman Kerrigan said: "Lisnagelvin Playing Pitches are not being considered as a potential site for the development of the Waterside Recycling Facility.

"Members heard from Council Officers that given the constraints with the current recycling facilities that it would be appropriate to look for other appropriate potential sites in the Waterside area and that they will bring an update report to members in due course.

"The potential sites to be scoped will not include Lisnagelvin playing pitches."
