Young artists who submitted entries to this year’s Texaco Children’s Art Competition are currently having their works evaluated as the judging process gets underway.

Preliminary adjudicator, Dr Denise Ferran has been admiring two of the entries received from Derry this year – a work entitled ‘Tyler The Creator’ by a pupil from St. Cecilia’s College (left) and another entitled ‘My Ladies’ by a pupil from Rainey Endowed School in Magherafelt.

Winners in six age categories plus one category reserved exclusively for young artists with additional needs, will be announced in mid-April.

Now celebrating its 72nd year, the Texaco Children’s Art Competition is the longest-running art sponsorship in Ireland. First held in 1955, it is hosted by Valero Energy (Ireland) Limited – the company that markets fuel in Ireland under the Texaco brand.
