Country singer David James is set to perform in Derry.
Following a recent sell-out concert at Enniskillen’s Ardhowen Theatre, the next big outing for the Killea based country music star will be a ‘homecoming’ gig with his first ever headline concert at Derry’s Millennium Forum.
David launched his own band exactly a year ago in 2025 and his subsequent tour has given great success to his new record releases including his latest single ‘The Waltz of Life’ which was launched just last month. That single and others such as ‘Happy Street’, ‘Waltzing An Angel’ and ‘Drops Of Brandy’ all receiving prominent airtime on local and national stations across Ireland.
The Waltz of Life is a conversational song between a young man and his beautiful wife on their wedding day. It captures the special conversation between the newly married couple before they step out on the floor for their first dance and their own waltz of life together.
John Farry, David’s manager said: “It’s a track I wrote myself more than a decade ago, and I can honestly say that I have waited all this time for the right person to come along and record it – and David is just the man. His vocal performance is superb on the track”.
The singer, who is also a renowned programme presenter on Highland Radio, has been involved in the music scene since his early teens.
David’s love for country music began when he attended ‘The Country Fest’ in Letterkenny with his brother Gerard: “I was bitten by the show band bug and ever since that day I knew it was exactly what I wanted to do,” said David. He then started performing at the tender age of 14 around the local pubs and clubs in counties Donegal, Derry and Tyrone.
One of David’s career highlights has seen him perform on the Gertrude Byrne Caribbean Cruise along with good friends Daniel O’Donnell, Nathan Carter, Celtic Thunder, The New York Tenors and Irish tenor Ronan Tynan.
David James’ Derry concert takes place at the Millennium Forum on Thursday 26 February. Tickets are priced £26.50 and a limited amount are available from the theatre’s box office or online at Millennium Forum
