PSNI carrying out searches as part of Wayne Reid murder investigation

Police calling for witnesses to come forward with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem

PSNI launch murder investigation following death of man (43) in Co Derry

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team, investigating the murder of Wayne Reid in Coleraine, have been carrying out enquiries and searches in the local area.

Today, Saturday, January 24, officers are conducting searches in Coleraine’s Lisnablagh Road and surrounding areas.

Mr Wayne Reid was pronounced dead at an address in the Society Court area of the town on Monday, January 12. 

Detectives believe the 43-year-old was assaulted in the early hours of Saturday, January 10 and later died as a result of his injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Hazel Miller said: “The last two weeks have been torturous for Wayne’s family and loved ones.

“We will continue to work relentlessly to bring those responsible to justice.  Over recent days, we’ve carried out extensive door-to-door enquiries in the local area. We’ve been speaking with pedestrians and members of the local community.  Officers have also carried out multiple searches, with searches still ongoing today in the Lisnablagh Road and surrounding areas.”

Detective Chief Inspector Miller added: “Residents will continue to see a police presence in the area, and I’m keen to take the opportunity to thank the local community for their ongoing support.

“I’m appealing to anyone who has information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to do the right thing and contact us on 101, quoting reference 552 of 12/01/26.”
