Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Alderman Richard Brown Stewart, has offered his best wishes to the newly appointed High Sheriff of County Londonderry, Peter Jack MBE.

Peter officially accepted the Chain of Office at a ceremony, held in Council’s Civic Headquarters Cloonavin, on Tuesday, January 20. Attendees also present were the outgoing High Sheriff, Ian Henry, and Lord Lieutenant of County Londonderry, Alison Millar.

A Limavady solicitor and well-known athlete, the newly appointed High Sheriff is the current President of the Rotary Club of Limavady and has completed many physical challenges including 14 Ironman Triathlons, climbing to 4,500 metres on Mount Everest and scaling mountains in Borneo, Morocco, and Mount Kilimanjaro.

Peter was awarded an MBE in 2023, in recognition of his outstanding contribution and services to Endurance Sport and Charity in Northern Ireland.

Speaking after the handover, Alderman Brown Stewart said: “I am delighted to see Peter appointed to the role of High Sheriff. I wish him every success for the year ahead, and I have no doubt he will be a fantastic ambassador for the Borough.”
