Translink announce Derry to Belfast Pride coach special.
Translink has announced a special coach service from Derry to help meet demand for those planning to attend Belfast Pride on Saturday, July 29.
A coach will depart from Foyle Street Bus Station at 10am, calling at stops including Dungiven, Maghera, Castledawson and Toome.
Speaking about the additional service, Tony McDaid, Assistant Service Delivery Manager at Foyle Street Bus Centre, said: “We know many people will be keen to attend Belfast Pride to enjoy the positive and celebratory atmosphere of the parade.
"With growing demand in recent years for those travelling from Derry to attend Belfast Pride, we’re pleased to confirm details of an additional bus service from Foyle Street bus centre, with a late return to help facilitate safe, comfortable and convenient travel to ensure everyone is better connected.”
As well as the special coach service, Translink will also operate a bus for people with accessibility issues to help them take part in the Belfast parade.
Anyone who may find it difficult to walk such as those with mobility, mental health or sensory issues, as well as families with young children, are invited to join Translink and be part of the celebrations.
In addition, Translink will help welcome Pride attendees with complimentary face-painting at Lanyon Place Station, Great Victoria Street and Europa Bus Stations. Translink staff will also join with friends and family to take part in the much-loved parade, demonstrating their support for equality and diversity.
Tickets for the special service are available online only at www.translink.co.uk/events.
The return service will depart from Europa Buscentre at midnight and customers are advised that they should arrive a minimum of 15 minutes prior to departure.
All services operate a strict no smoking and no alcohol policy.
