People Before Profit Westminster candidate Councillor Shaun Harkin has praised the Derry Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign and called for people to support their pre-election rally. 

Cllr Harkin said: "There are many in the establishment who want to move Gaza from the front pages. 

"Leaders in Westminster and Stormont have stood with Israel while it attempts to erase the Palestinian people.
"But Palestine is a central election issue. If you can't stand against genocide and apartheid what will you ever stand for?
"Israel may still have powerful friends in governments but throughout the world the people have risen to oppose genocide.
"Here in Derry the IPSC have been inspirational in their campaigning for a ceasefire and end to genocide.
"They have raised thousands of pounds to help the Palestinian people in Gaza.
"The IPSC are the best of Derry. Ordinary decent people showing the kind of humanity and compassion that political leaders seem to have lost long ago. 
"The campaign to boycott the White House on St. Patrick's Day started in Derry and spread all over Ireland. 
"When Sinn Féin broke the boycott and drowned the shamrock with Genocide Joe Biden their actions hurt people in Derry more than anywhere else. 
"But Sinn Féin are not alone in rolling out the red carpet for Biden Administration representatives. 
"The SDLP backed the apartheid regime when they voted for a DUP motion in Stormont supporting an interpretation of antisemitism that's been used to criminalise criticism of Israel. 
"And their recent claims of 'scaremongering' in regard to Stormont and BDS shows they can't be trusted on Palestine solidarity. 
"On the doors during this election campaign Gaza was the issue that many people wanted to talk about. 
"The IPSC have kept the issue of Palestine foremost in our minds and in our hearts. For that they deserve great credit. 
"People Before Profit call on anyone who can to come out to Free Derry Corner on Wednesday night at 7pm."
