The team behind Drive 105 Match Night Live have been nominated as a finalist in the 2025 Community Radio Awards, a national celebration of excellence in community broadcasting.
The nomination comes in the 'Sports Show of the year' category, with their entry for delivering live match commentary of every Derry City FC game - home, away, and in Europe - with passion, insight, and local authenticity. Anchored by a committed team of volunteers, the programme combines play-by-play commentary, tactical analysis, and pre- match and post-match interviews to offer a comprehensive and community-driven sports broadcast.
Based in Derry, Drive 105 has been at the heart of the community for years, creating connection and conversation through the airwaves. The station delivers trusted, quality content while shining a spotlight on local arts, community events, grassroots talent, and the issues that matter most to the people of the city and the wider community.
Drive 105 Match Night Live presenter, Dee Curran, said: "As a team we are thrilled to be recognised with this nomination. This is a testament to the hard work of our volunteers and the support of our amazing listeners and our sponsors Luxor Bathrooms, Tiles and Designs and Paul Martin Menswear.
Drive 105 Match Night Live is a labour of love created by everyday supporters, broadcasting from multiple locations in real time whilst delivering a compelling and credible alternative to mainstream sports media. It is, at its core, a football service by the fans, for the fans.”
The Community Radio Awards, this year hosting the 10th awards, received the highest number of entries for a few years from across the UK. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Bradford on Saturday, October 25 2025, following the UK Community Radio Network Conference.
Chair of the Awards, Rebecca Steers, said: “The awards are a fantastic opportunity to reflect on the incredible impact community radio has across the UK. Being nominated is a huge achievement in itself.
The Station, its presenters and volunteers should be so proud of all that they do for their community, and for this nomination and the recognition for all their hard work.”
