Derry City and Shelbourne have drawn their last six games against each other.
Derry City have been drawn at home against Shelbourne in the quarterfinals of this season's FAI Cup.
It is the first meeting between the clubs in this competition since the 2022 final at the Aviva Stadium, which the Candystripes won 4-0.
There has been little to separate the teams since then with the teams drawing the last six meetings against each other, with four of those games ending 0-0.
Shelbourne have not beaten Derry City in the FAI Cup since the 2000/01 season. In 2004, Derry City won a penalty shoot-out against the Dubliners after a 0-0 replay. That was followed by a 1-0 victory at Tolka Park in 2006 when Darren Kelly scored the only goal of the game in the first round.
Then, in 2012, Derry City won a semi-final replay 3-0 at Tolka Park on their way to winning the trophy under Declan Devine.
This tie is all the more intriguing with the teams also locked in a battle for the league title at the top of the Premier Division.
The other quarterfinals are: UCD vs. Bohemians, Wexford vs. Treaty and Athlone vs. Drogheda United.
The ties will be played on the weekend ending Sunday, September 15.
