District Judge Suzanne Rice imposes stricter conditions despite police concerns over persistent breaches.

A woman charged with assaulting a 13-year-old has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court today.

Lisa Stokes (33) of Galliagh Park in Derry was charged with assaulting the child on May22.

She was also charged with disorderly behaviour and resisting police on May 31.

A police officer connected the accused to the charges and opposed bail.

The court was told that Stokes had four different sets of bail conditions and an officer said that they did not believe Stokes had any intention of sticking to her bail conditions.

Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said that the breaches of bail were accepted but added that the oldest charge this defendant faced was almost three years old.

He said that her previous bail conditions were 'more stringent'.

District Judge Suzanne Rice said Stokes had breached her bail by not answering the door when police called and also the alcohol condition.

She said she would release her on bail but the conditions would become more stringent.

Stokes was granted bail to reside at an address approved by the PSNI, no alcohol, not to enter licensed premises and wear a tag.

She will appear again on June 24.
