GEMX interactive roadshow bound for Claudy

GEMX, a leading advocate for fostering talent in the manufacturing and engineering sectors, is delighted to host an interactive roadshow at The Diamond Centre, Claudy on November 7, aimed at inspiring and informing career choices for secondary school pupils.

The roadshow will be attended by 300+ pupils from local secondary schools and also a StepUp group from NWRC.

The Interactive Roadshow is a unique platform, bringing together twelve manufacturing and engineering companies, while showcasing innovative teaching areas within NWRC. This combination creates an immersive experience, enabling students to engage with industry professionals and learn about potential career paths. The event is designed to provide valuable insights, practical knowledge, and hands-on activities to spark curiosity and interest among the next generation.

GEMX Project Director Joanne Sweeney said: “Our companies have developed an array of interactive experiences aimed at demonstrating the practical applications of manufacturing and engineering in the NW. Pupils will have the opportunity to engage with industry professionals and gain insights into various roles within local businesses.

Additionally, teachers will be able to network with representatives from prominent companies, developing connections that may open doors numerous opportunities for schools.”

This dynamic roadshow serves as a shining example of employers’ dedication to nurturing the next generation of leaders in manufacturing and engineering. The event will be supported by 14 North West companies including DuPont, The LYCRA Company, FAST Technologies, Seagate and Hunter Apparel. Activities will also be supported by stakeholders such as NWRC and Engineers Ireland.

The companies will provide lots of entertainment and challenge those interested to “weld with chocolate!” and other such activities! Emma Doherty, from the Industry 4.0 Centre at NWRC, will use VR to transport many visitors to a range of different working environments, and NeliPak will challenge the crowd to “Find the Bug” with the enticement of regular spot prizes.
