Glebe Farm, situated outside Limavady, was delighted to receive national recognition for their produce, after securing a Silver at the recent Great British Food Awards for their 6oz beef burgers.
The prestigious awards acknowledge the best in food and drink businesses in Great Britain and honour Britain’s finest artisan producers.
The achievement is a proud moment for the Scott family, who have farmed Glebe Farm for generations, highlighting the quality of locally produced food from Limavady on a prestigious national stage.
Opening their farm shop in 2024, Glebe Farm set out to showcase their own produce and also to encourage people to support local food producers, by offering a platform to sell fine artisan produce from the Limavady area and beyond.
Nicole Love, Managing Director of Glebe Farm, described her pride and joy at receiving this accolade:
“Receiving Silver at the Great British Food Awards is a very proud moment for us as a family business.
“We were delighted that our 6oz beef burgers were recognised, particularly because our beef comes from our own cattle reared here on the farm.
“There is so much care and hard work that goes into producing our food, so to have that recognised at a national level means a great deal to us.
“For me, one of the most important parts of opening Glebe Farm Shop was creating a place that celebrates the quality of local produce and the people behind it.
“We are incredibly fortunate to have so many wonderful farmers, food producers and artisans here in Northern Ireland, and I hope our shop helps showcase what is available on our doorstep.
“Supporting local food is about more than just the product itself; it is about supporting family businesses, sustaining our rural communities and keeping our agricultural heritage alive for future generations.
“We are still a relatively young business, having opened the farm shop in August 2024, so receiving this recognition so early on is particularly special.
“It gives us real encouragement as we continue to grow.”
Established in 2014, the Great British Food Awards celebrate excellence in artisanal food and drink, recognising outstanding producers from across the UK.
With almost a century of farming heritage behind it, Glebe Farm continues to build on the traditions passed down through generations.
Today, the family business specialises in native cattle breeds, including Dexter and Irish Moiled, reared using traditional and sustainable farming methods.
The farm shop brings together Glebe Farm’s quality beef products with a carefully selected range of local and seasonal produce, celebrating the richness of the local landscape and the agricultural industry.
Visitors will also revel in the farm’s cosy coffee barn, where artisan coffee and homemade treats can be savoured in a tranquil countryside setting on Drumsurn Road, just outside Limavady.
Nicole revealed plans for the expansion of the business and looks forward to upcoming developments, which will continue to raise awareness of the value of quality local produce and encourage greater support for local food producers:
“There are lots of exciting things ahead for Glebe Farm.
“We have recently started on some expansion work due to open 2027, which is a huge milestone for us and something we have been working towards for a long time.
“We hope it will allow us to grow the business further, work with even more local producers and create a destination where people can enjoy good food, connect with the farm and experience a little more of countryside life.
“We also hope to continue developing our seasonal events and opportunities for people to learn more about farming and where their food comes from.”
