One of Ireland’s most talked about new acts completes the line up alongside local support from The Marra and Hypnic Jerk

Cardinals confirmed for Derry's 'All Kinds of Everything' festival

Cork-based rising stars Cardinals have been announced for the closing night of the All Kinds of Everything festival in Derry this Easter.

One of Ireland’s most talked-about new bands is heading to Derry this Easter after being added to the bill for the All Kinds of Everything festival.

Cardinals have been confirmed for the closing night of the festival on Easter Sunday, April 5 at Nerve Centre.

They will join local acts The Marra and Hypnic Jerk for what promises to be a huge finale to the Easter weekend event.

The rising Irish band have already generated a huge buzz with influential music magazine Rolling Stone recently tipping them as the “next great guitar band from Ireland.”

They’ve also been championed by Grian Chatten of Fontaines D.C., who described Cardinals as one of his favourite new bands.

The group began as a bit of a joke between three 16-year-olds - brothers Euan and Finn Mannings and their cousin Dara - growing up in a quiet fishing village near Cork.

Starting out making raw, spiky post-punk, the band expanded when school friends Aaron and Oskar joined. Their sound quickly widened too, pulling in influences from shoegaze, Irish folk, gothic metal, ragged Britpop and even hip-hop.

The result is melancholic indie rock with a warm heart - and a distinctly Irish twist, with accordion playing a central role in their sound.

Their debut release Masquerade has further cemented their reputation as one of the most exciting new bands emerging from Ireland.

All Kinds of Everything marks an exciting new chapter for music in Derry, celebrating the best new and essential music emerging locally, nationally and internationally while bringing fresh energy to the city’s nightlife.

Running from April 2 - 5, the festival will feature concerts, film screenings, studio collaborations and discussions at venues across the city centre including the Guildhall, The Playhouse, Sandinos, Guildhall Taphouse and Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin.
