Award-winning show Chicken Box Comedy set for another Derry show
The award-winning Chicken Box Comedy will return for another show at Bennigans Bar in Derry on Thursday evening.
Chicken Box Comedy is set for another show at Bennigans Bar on Thursday evening, June 18.
It gives experienced and new comedians from Derry and beyond a chance to show what they’re capable of.
Creator and host, Rory McSwiggan said: “I started doing comedy about 15 years ago and one of the most important things to have is a place to come and perform.
“We want to give people in Derry a chance to come and perform, and to go and see comedy.
Rory believes it’s a warm, friendly room at Branigans and it’s great for new comedians.
“They love the atmosphere and they love meeting the other comedians and performing.”
Chicken Box Comedy have won multiple awards, including UK comedy review website, Chortle’s ‘Luminaries of Lockdown Award’.
They run a show from 9pm until around 11pm every Thursday at Bennigans Bar and give each comedian 5-7 minutes.
The show has also won the Foyle Pride Helen Harris Freedom Award for their inclusion.
Rory said: “We try to include as many women, queer people and gay people as we can.”
Chicken Box has been going strong since 2018 and continues to with their weekly shows at Bennigans Bar.
