IN PICTURES: Mayor hosts civic reception to honour Foyle School of Speech and Drama graduates

Grade 8 gold medalists and special recognition winners from Foyle School of Speech and Drama celebrated by Mayor McHugh for their creative excellence

The  Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Ruairí McHugh, hosted a special civic reception in the Guildhall this week to celebrate the achievements of graduates from Foyle School of Speech and Drama. Joined by Principal Sandra Biddley, the Mayor congratulated the students on reaching significant milestones in their speech and drama qualifications, including a number of Grade 8 gold medal winners and pupils receiving special recognition awards.

The event also acknowledged recipients of the prestigious Perpetual Cup for Best Endeavour, highlighting the high standard of performance and commitment demonstrated by the school’s students. Speaking at the ceremony, Cllr McHugh praised the dedication of the pupils across all classes and commended Foyle School of Speech and Drama.

“It was a real privilege to welcome these talented young people to the Guildhall and to celebrate the dedication, confidence and creativity they have shown throughout their studies. They are wonderful ambassadors for our district, and I wish them every success in the future,” he said.
