County Derry musician bridges the Atlantic with LA-recorded EP ‘Oracle’

Shannon O'Neill returns with a high-octane 4-track collection produced by 90s alt-rock legend Brad Wood

County Derry musician bridges the Atlantic with LA-recorded EP ‘Oracle’

Sister Ghost, the haunting and fearless musical project fronted by Feeny native Shannon Delores O’Neill, is set to release her highly anticipated 4-track EP, Oracle. The release marks a bold international chapter for the artist, bridging the gap between the rural landscapes of Ireland and the high-octane energy of Los Angeles.

Recorded in LA with legendary producer Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo) and acclaimed drummer Jeff Friedl (A Perfect Circle, DEVO), Oracle is a visceral exploration of clarity, renewal, and the strength found in starting over.

The EP opens with “Incantation,” an atmospheric instrumental featuring field recordings captured in O'Neill's native North West, before diving into the raucous, sun-kissed energy of “Crashland.” The collection also features the introspective single “Embers” and the defiantly catchy “Not Your Toy,” which has already garnered significant airplay from KEXP Seattle and BBC Introducing.

“Oracle is a sonic realisation that the view is always better when you leave the wasteland behind,” says O’Neill. “It’s about the fire of starting over and the truth you find in that process.”

A pioneer of the DIY rock scene, O’Neill has shared stages with global heavyweights including Fontaines D.C., Pussy Riot, and Snow Patrol. Beyond her own discography - including the 2025 NI Music Prize finalist album Beyond The Water - O’Neill remains a vital changemaker in the Irish music industry as the founder of Girls Rock! NI, an initiative empowering female and gender-expansive musicians.

To support the release, Sister Ghost will hit the road this April for a series of highly anticipated live shows across the UK.

The release will be supported by live shows in April in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh, with tickets on sale this Friday (March 6).
