Breathe life back into your old toys this Culture Night at The Playhouse

Got a teddy that’s been loved a little too much? A toy car that’s lost its vroom?

For Culture Night 2025, The Playhouse is transforming into a Toy Hospital to breathe life back into your old toys, inviting families to bring their favourite soft friends or small battery-operated buddies along for a playful evening of mending, making, and magical fun.

Repair Café Foyle’s expert toy doctors will be on hand to patch, stitch, and power up much-loved companions, giving them a second chance at playtime.

While the toys are being cared for, families can join in an Upcycled Photo Frame Workshop, turning tiny plastic toys, dinky cars, or farm animals into colourful keepsakes to take home.

The evening also features:

  • Zero Waste North West’s Toy Library – a hands-on chance to discover the joy of borrowing and sharing toys.
  • Loopy Lou & Linny Bin – enchanting storytelling, songs, and puppets to add a sprinkle of Culture Night magic.

And if you have any wee, teeny, weeny fiddly toys that might otherwise end up in landfill or our oceans, we would love to use them for the photo frame workshop. Donations can be dropped into The Playhouse or Repair & Share Foyle before Tuesday, September 16, or brought along on the night.

Presented by 'Artitude: Climate, Culture & Circularity, the event will take place in The Playhouse on Culture Night (Friday, September 19), from 5.00pm - 7.00pm. Admission is free.
