Man in Derry court on domestic abuse charges has 'outstanding warrant' from Kent police

A man has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate's Court today after the court was told there was an arrest warrant out for him from police in Kent in England. .

Kane Boyd (24) of no fixed abode appeared charged with a number of domestic abuse offences. 

He is charged with threatening to commit criminal damage to a phone, a course of behaviour deemed to be domestic abuse, assault on a female and criminal damage to a start gate.

The offences were said to have occurred on dates before or on September 10.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that due to the outstanding arrest warrant there would be no application for bail at this stage.

He said that a response was awaited from police in Kent as to their attitude towards the warrant and asked for a short adjournment. 

Boyd was remanded in custody to appear again on September 17.
