Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Ruairí McHugh, has officially marked the start of the new bowling season with a ceremonial first game at Brooke Park Bowling Club in Rosemount.
The visit celebrated the important role local sports clubs play in bringing communities together and promoting active, healthy lifestyles.
Meeting with club members, the Mayor enjoyed a warm welcome and had the opportunity to see first hand the strong sense of camaraderie that defines the club.
“It’s a real pleasure to be here at the start of a new season at Brooke Park Bowling Club,” said Mayor McHugh.
“Facilities like this are at the heart of our community, providing not only opportunities for sport and recreation but also a place for people to connect and support one another.
“I’d like to thank all the volunteers and members who keep the club thriving and wish everyone the very best for the season ahead.”
The Mayor concluded the visit by wishing all members an enjoyable and successful season on the green.
