McLaughlin welcomes progress on Magee business case

Progress on the business case for the expansion of the Derry campus of the by University of Ulster has been welcomed by Foyle MLA Maeve McLaughlin.

The Sinn Fein representative was speaking after attending a meeting of the Strategy Board at which an update on the progress of the business case for the expansion of Magee was given.

The business case was presented to Employment and Learning Minister Stephen Farry in December and is currently under consideration. 

Ms McLaughlin said: "I met with departmental officials to discuss the business case and I believe things are moving in the right direction. 

"A number of points remain to be addressed but none of these are insurmountable. 

"The business case presents a robust case for the expansion of the university and makes it clear that the city is speaking with one voice in calling for the expansion of Magee and I urge the minister to take this on board and progress this vital project for the city."
