REVEALED: sneak peek at new Derry and Strabane council logo
Reporter:

The new logo for Derry City and Strabane District Council has been revealed – despite not yet being approved by the council. The new logo comes after a £30,000 ‘re-branding exercise’ was launched a year ago in July 2014 to find a new logo to represent the merged councils, which came into power on 1 April this year. The new logo – pictured above – has yet to come before councillors for final approval, but it has already started appearing on council documents which have been distributed to the public. The logo shows what appears to be the River Foyle, running through what appears to be a 'D'. However, the DUP have hit out at the design, claiming that it does not represent the history of the district area. The new logo will have to be placed on over 100 council vehicles throughout the new council district, as well as its building, cemeteries, literature and staff uniforms.
