The family of Billy Caldwell are organising an event to celebrate the support they have received with their 'Keep Billy Alive' campaign. Billy, from Castlederg, County Tyrone suffers from intractable and status epilepsy which means the seizures he suffers cannot be controlled by medication or diet. The event will feature music, games, food stalls and bouncy castles in a day packed with events. 'Billy's Bud Fest' will take place on September 9th at 41, Ballynaloan Road, Crewe Bridge, Castlederg. Billy's mum Charlotte said: "The 1st annual Billy’s Bud Fest is just around the corner! "At this stage in his extraordinary life, we fell like everyone is familiar with Billy and have taken him into their hearts. "Billy made history earlier this year when he became the first person to be prescribed medical cannabis on the NHS. "Billy suffers from the life threatening condition known as intractable epilepsy. Following extensive treatment with CBD oil, Billy is now more than 300 days seizure free. "To celebrate the phenomenal change for the better in Billy's health, we have decided to hold a small celebration in recognition of all those people that have helped us 'Keep Billy Alive'. "With astonishingly high interest in the event, politicians and doctors from both North and South will be attending the festival. We endeavour to create awareness and educational platforms regarding the remarkable health and well-being benefits CBD oil can offer everyone alike. "CBD oil can compliment the treatment of a variety of ailments— from chronic pain to severe epilepsy— and can be consumed as a food supplement. This event will also mark the first time that Billy’s Bud is available for consumers to purchase. "There will be over 50 market stalls attending the festival so we hope there will be something for everyone. Additionally, there will be entertainment provided all day, including live music, games, and bouncy castles for the kids. "Following the event, Billy's Bud CBD oil will be available in retail dispensaries from late September, with the official launch coming in late 2017. CBD saved Billy’s life and can have a tremendous effect in you and your loved ones’ lives also. "We are very much looking forward to meeting everyone and we hope you all have a great day with us on September 9th!"
