The Community Services section of Derry City and Strabane District Council have been working in close partnership with a number of community organisations to identify potential small grants assistance for families affected by the recent floods across the North West. The fund, which is administered through Buttle Trust UK, who focus on emergency assistance to children could be available to families who were affected by the floods in August. Buttle UK have advised that they can offer limited small grant assistance to families with children under the age of 18 or young people under the age of 20 who live alone, have no contents insurance, and were affected by the recent floods. Encouraging those who may be eligible to contact the Council’s Community services for advice and assistance, a spokesperson for the Council said: “ We are encouraging anyone who was affected by the flood who have children under the age of 18 or who is a young person living alone and under the age of 20 and have no contents insurance, to contact us as they may be entitled to a small grant up to £300 from the Buttle Trust. “We would appeal to anyone who fits these criteria to please contact your local community centre to avail of advice and the application form or the community services section of the Council. Among the centres that have information are Drumahoe 028 71301662, Dove House 028 71269327, GSAP 028 7135 8787 or RAPID 02871337149 .”
