Man charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm returned for trial

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on charges of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to a police with intent to resist and dangerous driving following a Preliminary Enquiry at Derry Magistrates' Court.

Martin Stokes (31) of Mill Race in Belfast was charged with the offences that were said to have occurred on August 15, 2025.

It was accepted that there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Stokes chose not to submit any statements and not to call any witnesses.

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on May 13.
