Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín to attend PSNI Garvaghy Road interview

Aontú leader Peadar Tóibín will attend a Garvaghy Road related PSNI interview.
The Meath West TD will attend Musgrave Police Station in Belfast for a voluntary interview under caution in relation to the Garvaghy Road protests.
He will present himself for a requested interview with the PSNI at 11am on Friday, November 6, 2026.
Mr Tóibín said: "I believe in co-operating fully with the PSNI investigation. I will be attending the meeting with the PSNI and will be answering any questions they have.”
The PSNI wrote to Mr Tóibín this week to ask him to attend as part of their investigation into the Garvaghy Road protests in September.
The letter informed him it is suspected he has committed offences linked to his appearance at Garvaghy during the height of the standoff.
Demonstrators took to the road in an effort to prevent the Orange Order passing down the route.
Said Peadar Tóibín: "I received a request to meet with the PSNI and give an account of events, in relation to my role in the Garvaghy Road, a number of weeks ago.
"I believe in co-operating fully with the PSNI investigation. I will be attending the meeting with the PSNI and will be answering any questions they have,” he added.
"However, it's a monumental waste of PSNI time and of elected representatives' time to go through the charade of these meetings. It does not make sense at all.
"Nearly £4million in the North has already been spent in policing these protests. Now, we have to go through this charade of discussions with the PSNI.
"Micheal Martin stood idly by, when it came to his responsibility to make sure the peace process was upheld. It was left to other representatives, such as myself, to stand with the people of the Garvaghy to protect the peace.
"This is a serious waste of time and money, for a lack of responsibility by both governments in terms of holding the peace in the North."
