A man has been sentenced at Derry Magistrate's Court for disorderly behavior.

Kevin Grint (43) of Whitethorn Drive in Derry was arrested after police were called to reports of a man said to be climbing scaffolding in the Victoria car park.

When police arrived, Grint appeared to be intoxicated and became verbally abusive and cursing at them.

Despite warnings about his behavior, he continued to shout and curse in front of members of the public telling police 'we are going to have a problem'.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that Grint was the one who ended up with the problem and added his client was 'not in great humour that day', adding that this sort of behavior was 'not his style'.

He was sentenced to three months in custody, suspended for twelve months.
