Danny Quigley finishes extraordinary 200-mile Sahara Desert challenge

Bogside & Brandywell Health Forum has congratulated local athlete and mental health champion Danny Quigley after he completed a remarkable 200-mile run through the Sahara Desert to raise funds for mental health services in Derry.

Congratulating him on finishing the extraordinary challenge, Aisling Hutton from Bogside & Brandywell Health Forum said: “What Danny has achieved in the Sahara is nothing short of incredible. The blistering heat, the endless miles, and the sheer physical and mental strength required would stop most people in their tracks - but Danny keeps going for one reason: to help others.

“Losing his father, Colm, was life-changing, and yet he has turned that pain into purpose. He takes on these unbelievable challenges, not for himself, but to make life better for people across this community and to enhance the services that people badly need.

“Through the Lighthouse Project, Danny has been instrumental in helping fund more than 500 counselling sessions in the local community.

“It has also supported over 700 children and adults into sport and physical activity programmes that benefit both their mental and physical health. His selflessness and drive continue to make a real difference.”

Danny has already raised over £9,000 through this challenge, and we would encourage people to donate to this amazing cause which has life-changing outcomes for many people. You can donate here.
