Sinn Féin Foyle MLA Pádraig Delargy, has welcomed the announcement of £100,000 investment in employee ownership initiatives by Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald.

Mr Delargy said employee ownership enabled workers to hold both a financial and decision-making stake in the company.

He added: "The money will be spent on promoting the employee ownership model across the north, offering advice and supporting feasibility studies.

“Minister Archibald’s investment in Employee Ownership Ireland is a very positive development, and one which I hope will lead to increased numbers of businesses and workers adopting this approach," said Mr Delargy  after the announcement.

“This exciting practice brings immense benefits to both employees and businesses, leading to higher wages, increased morale and improved output.

“This in turn benefits the local economy as businesses are more likely to stay in the same location and support the local community.”
