Derry Magistrates' Court

A man who resisted police after they informed him he was about to be arrested has been fined at Derry Magistrates' Court.

Samuel Riley (63) of Milltown View in Drumahoe outside Derry admitted resisting police on June 18, 2023.

The court heard that police attended Riley's address on another matter and informed him he was to be arrested.

Riley told police 'I am not going to any f-----g barracks' and pushed an officer causing her to stumble.

He then continued to struggle with police before being restrained and arrested.

Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said it was a 'fairly minor' incident.

He said his client was restrained on the ground and sustained bruising but he did accept he resisted arrest.

Riley was fined £400.
