A man has been told that 'in all likelihood' he was going to get a custodial sentence after he admitted a series of drug offences.

Ross Hegarty (40) of Bonds Street in Derry pleaded guilty to various drug charges including being concerned in the supply of cocaine on dates between December 2022 and December 2023.

He had been granted anonymity on the charges but this was lifted after his guilty plea.

A pre-sentence report was requested and the defendant was released on continuing bail.

Judge Neil Rafferty KC told Hegarty that these charges carried custodial sentences and he should not believe that his release today was any indication of the sentence he would receive.

Sentence will be passed on May 2.
