A man who ‘flouted his bail conditions’ by not being resident at his bail address has been remanded in custody at Derry Magistrate’s Court.

Sean Walsh (21) of Patrick Street in Derry had been on bail on various charges and some of his conditions were that he was not to go into a Creggan and to reside at his address.

A police officer told the court that this was the defendant’s fourth breach of bail.

The court heard that at 11.00pm on November 14 police called at his address and it was ‘completely empty’ and it appeared that no one had lived there for some time.

The officer said it was believed that Walsh was living in Creggan.

Walsh has 11 previous convictions and police believed there was a clear risk of re-offending.

The officer also said that in February and September this year threats had been made against the defendant.

Defence counsel Sinéad Rogan said her client had a new address that was available to him from today.

She said that his conditions were designed to keep him out of Creggan and the new address was not in that area.

District Judge Barney McElholm said that Walsh had breached his bail and revoked it.

He was remanded in custody to appear again on December 2.
