A man has been given a suspended sentence at Derry Magistrate’s Court for harassment.
John Robb (48) of John Street in Derry admitted harassing the man on dates between March 4, 2023 and November 1.
The court heard that police attended to a report of harassment.
The injured party who worked as a concierge in an apartment complex said he had found posters making various allegations against him stuck up across the complex.
Robb was identified as being behind the posters and had being served with an anti-harassment order last year.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said his client had no record.
He said that while Robb had ‘blotted his copy book’ he wanted to apologise for his actions.
District Judge Barney McElholm said these were serious offences and Robb had made ‘nasty allegations against a blameless man’.
Robb was sentenced to three months in custody suspended for two years and had a restraining order imposed.
