Second World War practice mortar shell discovered in Derry

A World War Two practice mortar shell, similar to the one pictured, was found in Derry this week.

A Second World War practice mortar shell has been discovered in Derry.

Police received a report that an object had been found in the Helen Street area yesterday afternoon (Monday, July 15).

Ammunition Technical Officers attended the scene, and the item was taken away for disposal.
