Police are in attendance at a security alert in Coleraine following the discovery of a suspicious object in the Brook Street area this morning (May 5).
Brook Street is closed and a number of homes have been evacuated.
SDLP MLA for the area, Cara Hunter, said those responsible were 'callous'.
"Absolutely shameful that residents have been evacuated from their homes at an early hour this morning," she said.
"This has caused great disruption and upset. These callous actions do not reflect the good people of Coleraine."
