STORM CIARA UPDATE: As winds pick up this afternoon, Derry's council has closed St Columb's Park and Brooke Park

Met Eireann has issued a severe weather for Donegal

Two public parks in Derry have been closed as Storm Ciara arrives in the local area.

A short time ago, a spokesperson for Derry City and Strabane District Council said: "‪In view of the strong winds and risk of fallen debris St Columb’s Park & Brooke Park will be closing imminently.

"The public are advised to take note of the weather warnings and follow @nidirect for updates."
