A County Derry councillor has paid a heartfelt tribute to her beloved son following his sudden death.

SDLP councillor Denise Johnston’s son Oisín passed away yesterday (Thursday, September 25).

Sharing the death notice on social media earlier this evening, the heartbroken Moyola representative described her 18 year-old son as ‘my beautiful baby’.

She added: “Our lives are changed forever.”

A death notice described the Ballymaguigan teenager as the ‘beloved son of Paul and Denise and loving brother of Katie, Paul and Aodhán’.

Oisín’s funeral will take place on Sunday afternoon with Requiem Mass taking place in Church of St Trea in Newbridge.

Hundreds of tributes have been paid online to Oisín.

Among those paying tribute was SDLP MLA Patsy McGlone.

“Sincerest sympathies to Denise, Paul and the entire family from Geraldine and myself.  In our deepest, heartfelt thoughts and prayers,” he said.

A friend of the teenager said: “Rest easy Oisín, such a beautiful soul, forever proud to have called you my friend.  Sincere condolences to the family.”

Another person wrote: “Heart breaking.  Thinking of everybody who is mourning Oisín, may God give them the strength they need to get through these upcoming days and weeks ahead.  Rest in eternal peace Oisín.”
