Derry Magistrate's Court
A man has been jailed at Derry Magistrates Court on charges of theft and assaulting police.
Frankie Lynn, 19, of Spencer Road in Derry, was charged with on October 28 2022, stealing a number of alcoholic drinks from Sainsbury's to the value of £18.
The court heard that he was seen on CCTV with several others to be removing tags from bottles.
He was also charged with, on July 20, stealing items to the value of £14 from Iceland in Foyleside.
When confronted by staff that had seen him on CCTV, Lynn denied it was him in the footage.
Lynn was again arrested on August 29 this year and kicked one of the arresting officers.
Defence Barrister Stephen Chapman told the court that while the value of the thefts were low, it was the volume of thefts that were the bigger issue.
He was sentenced to seven months in custody.
