The new cricket season begins in April.
The 2025 Long’s SuperValu North West league season is set to get underway on 26 April and the fixtures secretary has wasted little time in whetting the appetite as the return to 50-over cricket sees Brigade and Donemana headlining opening day as they clash at Beechgrove.
The three other Premiership 1 games include senior cup holders Newbuildings entertaining Ardmore, Bready hosting newly-promoted Strabane and Coleraine travelling to Eglinton.
The Bannsiders may opt to set up a temporary camp for the weekend as a busy first few days then sees them back in BT47 on Sunday to tackle Burndennett at 12 noon and Bonds Glen at 4pm as the first round of fixtures in the White Horse T20 group phase begin with a selection of double headers.
Thereafter, the T20 group stages will continue on Thursday evenings following the initial round of fixtures.
With just seven teams in Premier Section 2, Fox Lodge will sit out the first Saturday leaving Bonds Glen to take on St Johnston, Burndennett to entertain Killyclooney and Ballyspallen hosting Glendermott.
The Derry Midweek League’s Charity Day at The Rectory takes place on Sunday 4 May starting at 12 noon as Fox Lodge women and Bready women renew rivalries in the first final before Donemana and Newbuildings go again in the men’s final.
The first round of this season’s Sports Hub senior cup takes centre stage on 10 May with the Irish Senior and National Cup first round ties scheduled for the following Saturday (17th).
The women’s league kicks off on Monday 8 May and sees current champions Fox Lodge begin their defence away at Eglinton.
Bready host Strabane the same evening while the Coleraine minibus clocks up a few more miles as they begin their campaign up at Bonds Glen.
The women’s senior cup has a different look this season with two group stages taking place to decide the finalists.
All games, up to and including the final, will be 30 overs per side.
