East Derry MLA Claire Sugden pledges support to Coleraine FC investment

Independent MLA Claire Sugden has voiced her strong support for Coleraine Football Club’s application to the Northern Ireland Football Fund (NIFF), highlighting the transformative impact a £10 million investment would have on the North Coast.

‘Coleraine FC is at the heart of our community, bringing people together, inspiring young talent, and providing opportunities for players of all ages and backgrounds. This funding would allow the club to build on its success and continue its invaluable contribution to local sport.’

"For too long, the North Coast has lagged behind in securing public funding, particularly in comparison to other areas of Northern Ireland. This project represents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to deliver real economic and social benefits to Coleraine. With two adjoining areas of high deprivation set to directly benefit, this investment would significantly boost local businesses, create jobs, and enhance community engagement through sport."

“Securing this funding would enhance facilities, improve training opportunities, and ensure that the next generation of footballers in our area have access to the best possible support. It will also strengthen Northern Ireland’s position as a host for global tournaments like Super Cup NI, bringing further investment to the North Coast.’

"Coleraine FC’s commitment to grassroots football, social inclusion, and community outreach is second to none. This investment will allow them to expand their work even further. I fully support their bid and urge the Department for Communities to recognise the importance of this funding for the entire region."
