WATCH: Tiernan Lynch 'proud and privileged' to be new Derry City manager

New Derry City manager Tiernan Lynch has posted a heartfelt message to Derry City fans as he began his tenure at the club earlier today.

Lynch departed Irish League champions Larne following last night's 2-0 victory over Insitute in the BetMcLean Cup at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium.

He has signed a three year deal with Derry after the club parted company with Ruaidhri Higgins last week.

Posting on social media, Tiernan Lynch said: "Morning to all the Derry City fans. First day in the new role and absolutely delighted, proud and privileged to get the opportunity to manage this great football club.

"I'm really hoping to see you all here, loud and proud as soon as the season kicks-off."
