The penultimate round of the Derry Intermediate Championship took place at the weekend.

Results have confirmed the participants in the quarterfinals, with the final round of games to confirm who will play who in the knockouts.

Ballinderry are now the only side in the competition with a perfect record as they continued their fine performance in the championship with another win, this time over Banagher.

The 13-time Derry senior championship winners secured a narrow victory at Owenbeg.

Banagher will take confidence from their two-point loss to the favourites for the championship title, as Ballinderry won 0-13 to 1-8.

Elsewhere in Group A, Castledawson secured their place in the next phase of the championship, while in the process putting the final nail in the coffin for Claudy, as they were eliminated.

Castledawson were always in control of the game but were only able to pull away in the final quarter as Claudy fought tooth and nail to keep their championship status alive, but alas, it was not to be for John Mitchell’s.

The five-point victory of 0-15 to 0-10 has put Castledawson second in the group ahead of the last fixture.

The final game in the group witnessed Drumsurn secure their place in the next phase of the championship.

Securing a victory on Saturday night over rivals Limavady, leaving the Wolfhounds to lick their wounds after their elimination from the competition this season.

Limavady did not give the fight at Owenbeg, but it was not to be as Drumsurn saw off the spirited fight.

Drumsurn know their 0-14 to 2-6 victory has progressed them to the quarterfinals, ahead of their game with Banagher next round.

Group B witnessed the elimination of both Desertmartin and Greenlough.

The two sides squared off against each other at the weekend, with the hosts securing the victory, which ended both their championships.

Desermartin will be disappointed to have suffered defeat, knowing a win would have put them in a place to qualify for the next round, but Greenlough broke their hearts on a 1-13 to 1-11 scoreline.

Eoghan Rua upset the odds to secure a draw against Foreglen, with the hosts perfect record coming to an abrupt halt and putting their place at the top of the group in jeopardy as they prepare to face Faughanvale in their final group game.

Coleraine secured a draw at the 2019 intermediate championship victors as they continue to find form following their last round victory over Faughanvale.

Their 2-12 to 2-12 draw will give Coleraine hope of securing the top spot in the group ahead of their final fixture with Greenlough.

The final game of the group saw Faughanvale finally click into gear over Glenullin, a club in search of their third intermediate championship in a row.

The visitors had struggled to find a performance throughout the championship to this point, but it all came together in Glenullin.

It was an impressive 3-15 to 1-9 victory for Faughanvale as they secured their quarterfinal spot, with the hope of topping the group a realistic ambition for the club.
