Stephen Kenny is the new St. Patrick's Athletic manager.
Stephen Kenny's first game in charge of St. Patrick's Athletic will be against his former club Derry City tomorrow night.
The former Republic of Ireland manager has agreed a five and a half year deal at Inchicore and will get straight to work with games against Derry City and Shelbourne over the next few days.
St. Pat's, who sit seventh in the Premier Division after seven defeats in their first 16 games, sacked manager Jon Daly just two weeks ago, but have moved quickly to replace him.
Stephen Kenny is one of the most successful League of Ireland managers in history, having won 5 league titles, 3 FAI Cups, and 6 League Cups. He also led Dundalk to the Group Stages of the Europa League.
In his time at the Brandywell over two spells, Kenny took Derry City from relegation strugglers to title challengers, finishing second twice, winning four League Cups, one FAI Cup and the First Division title.
"It's been a bit of a whirlwind," Kenny said. "I'm looking forward to getting started, it's a new chapter in my life and a new chapter for the club, and I'll be giving it everything.
"Garrett Kelleher has shared his vision for the club with me for a long time, he has plans for the Stadium, to expand the club into America, European progression and a lot of exciting plans really.
"The reason I signed a longer contract is the build the club over a period of time and I'm looking forward to driving it forward.
"My mother used to come to watch St Pat's, she's from Inchicore and lived in Ballyfermot, so there's a good connection there.
"It's a big job ahead to re-build and to drive the club on. It's such a busy time now with three games in a week and we look forward to it."
