Guinness drinkers of Derry need not worry

It had been reported that there would be a supply limitation of Guinness by Diageo across the festive period

The reason why Guinness supply is said to be 'limited' in the lead up to Christmas

Pint of Guinness

Guinness drinkers in Derry need not worry about the limited selling of the stout in pubs.

Those who wished to head out for a festive pint of Guinness on Waterloo Street, pop into their local for a catch-up with friends, or sit for a quiet one in front of the fire need not worry.

The owners of Guinness, Diageo, were understood to be placing limits on pub and bar purchases of the Irish-made stout.

This reportedly led to some panic buying ahead of Christmas across Great Britain.

Guinness is a favourite for many pubgoers at the festive period, and with ‘Guinnfluencers’ and the rugby internationals in November potentially helping bring about the exacerbation of the stout supply in Great Britain ahead of Christmas.

However, on the island of Ireland there is no such concern for fans of Guinness, and a collective sigh of relief can be exhaled.

It was understood that the company was working to a clear set of allocations on a weekly basis.

Diageo has confirmed that the supply of the product will not be impacted in Northern Ireland.

A spokesperson for Diageo said: “As we move into the busy Christmas period, we will make all deliveries to our customers across the island of Ireland, as planned and without disruption.”
