Public information events planned to evaluate Consensual Grant Aid Model

Members of the public and community and voluntary sector organisations are being urged to take part in a series of public information events in relation to the evaluation of the Consensual Grant Aid Model across Derry City and Strabane District Council.

The Consensual Grant Aid Model has been piloted by council this year for 2024/25 for a number of funding programmes, following on from the initial phase introduced in 2019.  The model engages Local Growth Partnerships across the council area in identifying funding priorities for allocation and management of community funding including Good Relations funding; PCSP funding; Consensual funds (aligned to Local Community Planning); and the Community Support Programme.

The Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Lilian Seenoi Barr encouraged local community groups, organisations, and citizens to actively participate in the information sessions. She explained, “Council want to know whether the consensual approach should be adopted in the longer term and, if so, whether there are changes needed to make it more effective.

“This is your chance to help shape and influence the allocation of funding across the council area, for everyone who lives there. Please take this opportunity to have your say.”

Events are being held both online and in-person to allow as many people as possible to make their views known.

There are two sessions planned for Tuesday 26th November – one at 11.30am in the Glenelly Room, Strabane Council Offices, and another at 6pm in Derg Valley Leisure Centre, Castlederg.

On Wednesday 4th December at 6pm there will be a session in the Whittaker Suite in the Guildhall. While an online session will take place via Teams on Monday, 9th December at 7pm. The meeting link will be issued following registration.

Further feedback will also be welcomed through the completion of a survey and copies will be available online as the preferred option, however hard copies will also be available by contacting a member of the Community Services team.  To register for the Public Information Events or to complete the survey please visit www.derrystrabane.com/community or contact the Community Services team on 028 7125 3253.
