Derry man returned for trial on attempted murder of his wife
58-year-old faces multiple counts including arson endangering life and threats to kill following an incident in June last year
A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a charge of attempted murder of his wife.
Syed Raghib Ali Rizvi (58) of The Hillocks in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today.
He was charged with the attempted murder of his wife on June 13 2025.
He was also charged with arson endangering life on the same date, three counts of threats to kill and one count of assault again on the same date.
It was accepted that there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.
Rizvi said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage.
The defendant was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on October 6 and remanded in continuing custody.
