Derry Magistrate's Court
A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates Court charged with a number of domestic offences.
Paul Michael Murray (39) of St. Canices Park in Eglinton was charged with, on October 12, breaching a restraining order by making contact with his former partner.
He was also charged with hacking her Facebook account and being in possession of drugs.
The court heard that police were initially alerted by Murray's former partner that he had accessed her profile on Facebook and had messaged her regarding her new partner, telling police that she believed he had accessed her private messages.
Murray was subsequently arrested and police found the drugs in his possession, telling police that he used them to help him sleep.
Police objected to bail as Murray has 26 previous convictions and they believed he is at risk of reoffending.
Defense Barrister Michael Donaghey said that Murray's breach of the restraining order was a 'minor incident', telling the court that he simply asked his son if his former partner wanted to talk to him.
He also said that Murray had turned on a device that he hadn't used in a while and found his former partner to still be logged into Facebook.

District Judge Michael Ranaghan granted bail but gave Murray a 'stern warning', telling him that any more offences against his former partner would result in being taken into custody.
He will appear again on October 23.
