Confirmation 40 new social housing apartments being allocated welcomed by Cllr Patricia Logue

‘Too many families are waiting years for a suitable home with many, including children, trapped in unsuitable temporary accommodation’ - Cllr Patricia Logue
Confirmation that 40 new social housing apartments in the city’s John Street are now being allocated has been welcomed by Derry City and Strabane District councillor Patricia Logue (Sinn Féin).
“I have been working with the developer, planners, and the Infrastructure Department to get this development to safer neighbourhood standards so it is hugely positive that these much-needed homes are now ready and being allocated,” said Cllr Logue.
“While this is welcome, there remains a huge need for social and affordable housing in Derry and we will continue to press the Communities Minister to bring forward ambitious plans to address this need,” she added.
“Too many families are waiting years for a suitable home with many, including children, trapped in unsuitable temporary accommodation.
“That simply isn’t good enough and the DUP Minister for Communities needs to step up and build the homes that are needed.”
