A burst of colour and creativity will once again transform Roe Valley Country Park when the annual Stendhal Festival Yarnbombing Autumn event returns on Sunday October 25.

Running from 10am to 2pm, the popular community event brings people together through yarn, art and a shared appreciation of nature, while also raising funds for a worthy cause.

This year, a sponsored walk will support Foyle Hospice, a charity with a special place in the hearts of many local people and families across the Limavady area.

Becca, from Stendhal Community said: “This year Stendhal Community have partnered with local community groups to Yarnbomb the Roe Valley Country Park.

“Each group has designed their own tree as well as a few trees dedicated to our friends at Foyle Hospice.

“All the groups have been working really hard in order to make this happen and we’re really excited to see all of their work come to life in the woods!

“This event brings the community together by providing community groups the opportunity to work collaboratively on a large-scale arts-based project, which will then be installed in the Country park, giving the groups an alternative place for meeting and creating, and allowing their work to be viewed by an audience of local residents and Country Park attendees.”

Stendhal Community has announced the return of the much-loved fundraiser on the festival’s Facebook page, inviting the public to come along, enjoy the colourful displays and support the charity: “Join us in the Roe Valley Country Park, Limavady to help us raise vital funds for our friends at Foyle Hospice.

“Take your friends and family for a casual sponsored walk through our crocheted trees, listen to music by Paddy Nash and enjoy creative pompom making workshops from 10am until 2pm.

“Fancy dress encouraged!

“Massive thank you to the team and the local community groups taking part!”

Foyle Hospice expressed their appreciation for the fundraiser supporting their charity: “Thank you so much for creating a fundraiser.

“Your support helps us to make a difference.

“A huge thank you to everyone organising, volunteering, attending and supporting these events.

“Community fundraising like this helps us to continue providing care for local patients and families.”

A generous donator to the fundraiser commented: “What’s not to love about the lovely team at Stendhal Festival bringing music and art and joy to the good people of Limavady and all for such a wonderful charity.

“Thank you for brightening up our lives.

“Stendhal isn’t just a once a year, amazing festival, the team work hard all year round to bring joy to our community.”
