Christmas Tree in Guildhall Square
YES
NO
Derry has just finished hosting Europe’s biggest Halloween celebration, with the people of the city fully embracing the carnival-like atmosphere of the Celtic festival.
However, less than a week later, a Christmas tree is being erected in Guildhall Square to draw people’s attention towards the next festive period.
People can now expect Maria Carey and Michael Buble to provide dulcet tones as they enter shops to do their Christmas shopping or as they head out for that social drink with friends.
Families will sit down to watch Elf or It’s a Wonderful Life with a fire roasting in the background, waiting anxiously for December.
While many people within Derry love to get in the Christmas spirit, the question arises: is it too early for Christmas decorations to go up in November?
