Boyd Gray from West Ulster Genealogy Services.
Ballinascreen Historical Society’s November meeting will be addressed by Boyd Gray from West Ulster Genealogy Services.
As a professional genealogist, Boyd has worked for over 25 years researching family history in Ireland, with his particular specialism being north-west Ulster.
Boyd has recently been asked to be one of the experts giving advice in an Ulster “breakout room” as part of a zoom conference being organised by the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa.
Boyd will illustrate the modern online methods of researching family trees by referencing recent local assignments that he has carried out successfully for families connected with the parishes of Ballinascreen and Desertmartin – particularly the townlands of Drumard and Brackaghlislea.
It is very appropriate that this richly illustrated and informative presentation on genealogy will follow just a few days after the society’s launch of a major book containing 1585 transcribed entries and a 387 surnames index from church records within the parish.
Boyd’s talk will take place on Tuesday, November 5 at 8pm in the Workspace Community Hub (beside Draperstown library) with everyone being cordially invited.
Full details of all the society’s activities, including an online bookstore, can always be found on their website at ballinascreenhistoricalsociety.com
